NCSM Conference in New Orleans (USA)

Math Supervisors from across the country gathered in New Orleans for the 46th Annual NCSM Conference.  The 2014 theme, “JAZZED UP MATHEMATICS LEADERSHIP: Building Systems to Trumpet Achievement”- primarily focused on implementation of the Common Core State Standards and issues surrounding assessment. This year ORIGO had the opportunity to host one of NCSM’s evening receptions. Playing off the overall conference theme, the ORIGO event featured Cajun hors d’oeuvres and a Dixieland Band. “The reception was a blast! What a great platform to present the ORIGO brand and create awareness for Stepping Stones,” said Tony Ivers. “Ironically one of the writers of the Common Core, just that same afternoon, presented to a packed session of math supervisors, his session was called ‘Stepping Stones’. It was like the stars were aligning for us.”

Over 350 math supervisors attended the reception. ORIGO gave away Stepping Stones Journals and Practice books.  Guests were thrilled to receive these resources as well as the opportunity to sign on for a free 1 year Stepping Stones license.

NCSM’s Jim Wohlgehagen said, “Conference participants are so grateful at the end of a long day to have the opportunity to relax and socialize with other participants and vendors.  NCSM greatly appreciates the support that ORIGO provides our organization and our members.”

Edie Barnard, Event and Conference Coordinator, said “ORIGO’s adoption by the state of Hawaii speaks to the fact that these conferences and events provide an important opportunity for decision makers to learn about ORIGO and our products.”
